Web Design and Search Engine Optimisation

How does site submission work?

This works by you filling out a questionaire to let us know any keywords and descriptions of your site that we then automatically submit this to various Search Engines and Indexes. This will be an ongoing monthly process over the year.

How many engines will you promote my site to?

This will vary in most cases which is why we state "up to" 90,000. We Submit your site to a combination of Search Engines, Indexes and Link Farms which will generally be in excess of 90,000 when combined.

What is the difference between a Search Engine and an Index?

A Search Engine is a database of webpages containing information they have extracted from your webpage (either through a submission or using 'spider' programs that search the Internet and automatically scan pages.

An Index is also a database of webpages, but your listing is dependant on the information and descriptions given in your submission (i.e. not what is actually on your page)

How long will it take for the Search Engines to add my site to their lists?

This can vary quite considerably. With some engines it can be a matter of hours, whilst some of the larger sites can take several months (due to the volume of new sites being submitted to them around the world)

Will I be guaranteed a top 10 listing in all the major search engines?

No. Whilst we can guarantee that we will submit your website, we cannot guarentee the popularity (as this will be dependant on various factors beyond our control). That said we will analyse each page of your site using our optimisation software before submission and in each of our previous submission we have acheived top 10 every time.

How will I find out the progress of my submissions?

ePrivateHire will let you know when we have processed your submission and you will receive reports directly to your submission email address from the various engines and indexes that provide information thereafter.

What will I need to do to my website?

You should include meta keyword tags (keywords for your site) so that the Search Engines will find your site along and also a meta description (short description for the engines to use). This should be contained in the "head" section of your index page. If this information is not present or you are not sure give us a call and we will take care of this for you.

Will all the engines that I am submitted to be specifically related to my website content?

Some engines/indexes will be related to your website content, which is why we ask for site descriptions and other information. Other engines/indexes are general with no specic theme that you are added to. Due to the large volume of different engines/indexes, there may be some your site is submitted to that do not seem relevant on your submission reports.

What other steps can I take to increase my chances of a higher listing in the Search Engines?

There are really three different ways someone can visit your site

1) They respond to an advert displaying your site
2) They respond to a link for your site
3) They type some details into a Search Engine and your site is displayed

In many cases, the sites listing at the top of Search Engines will not rely on Search engines alone. If you want to make your site more popular then you should consider having banner adverts, link exchange programs etc. on other sites (especially if they are of a similar nature)

You submitted my site but I can still not see my site anywhere!

There are various reasons why this could be the case as explained in the points above, however to summarise:

  • Time: It can take months for some major engines to list you, so results may not be overnight in many cases
  • Popularity: Are you in any link exchange or banner advert programs to increase the popularity of your site?
  • Meta Tags: Have you included the appropriate meta tags and keywords in your HTML?
  • Competition: Even typing in an obscure phase into site engines will normally display thousands of results. It is a competitive environment.
